The purpose of this study is to examine how different people think about violence as a genetic trait that can be passed down. We want to know how much responsibility people with a genetic predisposition for violent behavior are believed to have for their actions. We also want to know what kinds of policies people believe should be applied to people with a genetic predisposition for violent behavior. Scientists are discovering new genetic markers for all kinds of traits every day, but our question in this project is what those genetic markers mean to the public and what kinds of policies should be passed as a result. Participants in this study will be asked to read a scenario about a particular individual and use information from that scenario as well as their personal beliefs to answer questions related to violence and policy. Participants will also be asked to provide some demographic information about themselves.
